About Mr. Clyburnii:
I am a native of Charlotte, and I received my K-12 education within the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools System. Upon graduation from North Mecklenburg High School, I attended North Carolina Central University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Upon graduating from North Carolina Central University, I began working as a Corrections Officer for the North Carolina Department of Corrections/Division of Prisons. Eventually, I transferred from the Division of Prisons to the Division of Adult Probation/Parole and began working as an Adult Probation/Parole Officer.
My experiences as a Corrections Officer and an Adult Probation/Parole Officer awakened a sense of despair in me for individuals who were victims of crime, as well as for those who were perpetrators of crimes. The cycle of crime as it relates to diminished self worth, decreased opportunities, and ultimately recidivism appeared perpetual. Thus, I sought a position in CMS and ultimately landed one in November of 2000.
I consider employment within Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools as an opportunity to be an agent on a quest to affect positive change in the lives young people. My work within CMS has provided me with more personal, and professional fulfillment than any other form of employment has. I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Charlotte as a teacher.
